The Art Hotel Denver gets an update worthy of its museum-caliber collection.

With art, there’s always more than meets the eye. The same goes for The Art Hotel Denver, Curio Collection by Hilton (thearthotel.com). Inspired by its location near some of the Mile High City’s most prestigious cultural institutions—including the Clyfford Still Museum and Denver Art Museum—the 165-room boutique hotel has always doubled as a gallery, with paintings and sculptures around nearly every corner. A $3 million, property-wide refresh this year revitalized the downtown venue to match its museum-quality collection.
London-based TDA Interiors managed to play up the venue’s whimsy without overwhelming the senses—or the property’s global art collection. “The refresh reflects our artistic ethos and surrounding cultural neighborhood that serves as the canvas of the property through pops of color,” says Alison Mitchell, the hotel’s general manager. Bold hues are a theme throughout. Primary colors lead the eye in the guest rooms, where navy textured carpets beautifully contrast jewel-toned pillows and blue, yellow and green chairs. Teal blue-accented backsplashes in the bathrooms play nicely with white Italian marble. In the lobby, modular red and orange benches—which recall Denver’s legendary sunsets—brighten the space, while allowing the hotel’s more earth-toned sculptures to remain the focal point. Meeting spaces get an upgrade with vibrant custom furniture.

Guests will be reenergized, too: On-demand, in-room massage treatments are now available through a national partnership with Soothe, a mobile wellness provider, and Peloton bikes were added to the refurbished fitness center. Because art can be good for the soul—and the body.
