These well-appointed vacation rental properties in the heart of Vail come with a butler, chef and personal concierge—and a truly impressive collection of art.

Expertly curated art and luxurious living collide within Ethos and Opus—two sprawling, interconnected vacation rentals formerly owned by the families of publishing magnates Webster and McGraw-Hill. Recently renovated in a multimillion-dollar transformation, the homes are offered through Triumph Mountain Properties’ Apex Collection (triumphmountainproperties.com). Spread across 15,089 square feet of opulent living space (including nine bedrooms, two elevators, expansive terraces, a ski room, a fitness studio and two outdoor heated infinity pools), the artwork rivals the panoramic mountain vistas with custom contemporary paintings and sculptures that elevate the guest experience. Here’s a sampling of the art you’ll be surrounded by during a stay.

Artist: Kelly Degnan
Boulder artist Kelly Degnan custom painted this large-scale piece for a focal wall in the third-floor great room. In soothing yet striking shades of black and white, the piece was custom designed specifically for the space.
Artist: Christopher Warren
Using metal, glass and acrylic in his “Colorado Fourteener Collection,” artist Christopher Warren transforms topography into art with this to-scale replica of every fourteener in the Colorado Rockies. Mounted on a living room wall, each peak shimmers in dimensional gold, silver or bronze, offering a realistic visual of the terrain. The piece is designed to be viewed from different angles in the space.

Artist: Gail Folwell
Gail Folwell, a masterful sculptor of sports figures, has crafted commissioned work for private clients and sites across the country. On the third floor, a rare artist’s proof of Folwell’s iconic bronze sculpture titled “The Edge” sits above a fireplace in front of a large picture window. The full-scale sculpture is set in Vail’s Gondola One plaza to commemorate the mountain’s Olympic and World Cup ski racers.
Artist: Rose Masterpol
“Tron,” a graphically intriguing work in acrylic by internationally renowned artist Rose Masterpol, hangs in a fifth-floor dining room inside the Opus home. The abstract nature of the print complements additional geometric design accents throughout the room, like the interlocking chain links of the stainless steel chandelier.

Jim Vilona, an artist from Berthoud, Colorado, who makes furniture, lighting and decor pieces from agate, quartz and other natural stones, designed sculptural crystal light fixtures throughout the property. Functional and beautiful, they frame living spaces while providing a warm glow.
