Few people have had a better glow up than Cardi B. Since her global breakout hit “Bodak Yellow” in 2018, the 29-year-old multi-hyphenate mother of two has become an unstoppable household name.
Whether breaking the charts with her music, sending red carpets into frenzies with her fashionable looks, going viral on social media or taking over TV, there’s really nothing Cardi B can’t do. Case in point: Whipshots, the star’s quirky foray into the liquor space.
Perfect for the holiday season, Whipshots is a vodka-infused whipped cream that comes in three flavors; Caramel, Mocha and Vanilla. The first drop of orders sold out via her website in less than a minute, and she celebrated the launch with a party during Miami’s Art Week celebrations.

We caught up with the Grammy award-winning star at the launch in Miami to learn about Whipshots first hand, but we also chatted about her recent appointment as creative director of Playboy, her forthcoming natural hair care line, and what corner of the world she plans to dominate next.
How'd you come up with the idea for Whipshots?
Me and my partner, Ross [Sklar, CEO of STARCO Brands], we came up with these. These are the starter three flavors. We're going to add different flavors next year. We don't want to say which ones, but they're pretty good. Ross came up with a lot of the Whipshots concepts and told me about it, so I had to try.
Which Whipshots flavor is your favorite?
So, it really depends. I like the mocha flavor better, because I like chocolate and coffee flavors, but the vanilla one? I've been eating it this whole week, especially since Thanksgiving with my eggnog.
What’s your favorite drink to make with Whipshots?
Eggnog, so far. Just to say, I'm not really a person who makes fancy drinks, but Thanksgiving just came, so it's really eggnog season. I started putting it on all over my eggnog.
You could have partnered with any liquor brand. Why did you choose this?
I chose this to be me, because it's more like me! You know what I'm saying? I'm not really a hardcore liquor drinking person, and I like things that are sexy; that are tasty.
Honestly, it’s great you didn't do a celebrity tequila, which is what everyone else is doing.
Yeah, that's just not me, you know what I'm saying? I'm not really a big alcohol drinker.
This is like a fun party drink.
Yeah, this is more fun. It's more tasteful. It's not that strong.
No, it's very strong. Trust me. You just poured it in my mouth. It is very strong.
Haha, yeah, but it hits slowly.
How did you feel about selling out in minutes?
I felt like I kind of knew it [would], but then it made me feel more secure about the product. Not everyone’s tasted it yet, so I like to show my partners that we can start a real brand. Yesterday—no today, I think it sold out in how many seconds? How many seconds did today last? Two seconds! Which, by the way, we've got to sell and ship because now it's getting overwhelming, and we've got to make sure these people receive their sh*t before Christmas and sh*t, because we were originally planning to put it out by next year—but I'm like "Nah! This is eggnog right here!”
You’ve had quite the week, especially with the announcement that you are now the Creative Director of Playboy.
My first meeting [with Playboy] was around May or April. I gave them some ideas that I have about the brand. I'm not going to be the type of person that is "Oh I want some femininity." Of course I want that, but I really want sex. Sex appeal—I love that!
I'm a wild girl, and that's what I want on the brand, you know what I'm saying? I want to have conversations that people are afraid to have. I want beautiful women. I don't know. When I think of Playboy, I think of back-in-the-day Playboy. That's what I want.
Like the glamour of the old Playboy.
Yeah! I want to bring that [glamour] back, and I'm excited, but now that everybody's so excited for me to do Playboy, I'm getting a little bit overwhelmed because I feel like that's a lot of pressure—but I know that I can do it.
You've got motherhood, music, alcohol, editorial. What's next creatively? What about your hair care line? Is that still coming out?
I've been taking my time with the hair products, because I do my own hair masks, but I do my hair masks naturally. You can’t throw [together] a natural hair mask, [because you need] to make a very good preservative for the hair mask and everything. I just don't want to put out any product like, "Oh yeah, it's my hair product" and put my name on it, because I really take hair seriously.
From my childhood to my early 20s, I always had problems growing my hair. Everyone thinks this is genetics and shit. No, it took me a hot minute to grow my f*cking hair, and I know that there's a lot of women that deal with that, so I want to put out something really, really, really good.
