If you want to see true high fashion, Dolce & Gabbana just defined the art.
The legendary Italian fashion house stunned audiences Sunday with its Alta Moda Fashion Show in Piazzetta San Marco, Venice. Many a celebrity was in attendance. According to a report by Vogue, Jennifer Lopez, Sean Combs, Doja Cat, Kris Jenner, Kourtney Kardashian, and Ciara were just a small handful of famous faces in the crowd.
No matter how much star power there was in the seats, nothing could outshine the luxurious looks.
Models arrived at the red carpet by gondolas showing off in shimmering fabrics and pieces adorned with gems. Some of the styles depicted scenes of Italy, capturing the very same blues as the Venetian sky above. The women walked in glittering crowns like modern royalty, set to a perfect soundtrack of Vivaldi’s classic “Four Seasons.”
A feast of colors, the collection dazzles in bold reds and pastel pinks, canary yellows, emerald greens and sky blues set against cream, white and black. Some dresses sang out in solid colors, others in incredible embellishments, matching the Piazzetta San Marco’s sumptuous and historical scene.
The scene was even more astounding as the sun set in the background, highlighting the collection’s natural inspirations while proving Mother Nature is truly the most gifted artist.
Subtlety was not the style. Big accessories, from intricate dangling earrings to ornate metallic chokers and large gemstone necklaces. It was all incredibly chic, but if it had been crafted by any less skillful hands, it could have ventured into the gaudy. That was, in essence, what the collection aimed to rally against.
“Everyone thinks couture is for the old,” designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana are quoted in Vogue, “but that’s not how it has to be.”
Truly a work of art in georgette and tulle, it’s a collection that shall be remembered for years to come, built on the beauty of centuries-old aesthetics and futuristic silhouettes.
