BIRD’S-EYE VIEW

FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHER GRAY MALIN (graymalin.com, @graymalin) worked out of a doorless helicopter to capture his signature aerial shots of skiers on the slopes below. “The skiers’ shadows are part of the photo’s intrigue,” Malin says. “What stood out to me most about shooting over Vail was how incredibly vast the mountains are. The landscape was breathtaking.” To celebrate the resort’s 60th anniversary, Malin also collaborated with Vail to re-create vintage scenes as seen through his timeless lens. The Gray Malin in Vail collection features fashion from the 1960s to 1980s, stylish retro ski gear and legendary locations, including the Back Bowls. “It’s full of après-ski celebrations, snowy adventures and awe-inspiring views that evoke nostalgia for the alpine lifestyle,” Malin says. This season, look for Malin’s photography at activations across Vail Mountain, including a gallery experience at Bistro 14, pop-up shops and high-altitude postcard mailings
