If you're looking to pick up a Warhol, Twombly or Picasso, now's your chance. New York developers Harry and Linda Macklowe are auctioning off their astonishing art collection via Sotheby's this fall, and the lot is estimated to sell for $600 million.
The auction comes on the heels of the Macklowe's high-profile divorce. Harry Macklowe is known for his New York developments, including the Metropolitan Tower, Drake Hotel and 432 Park Avenue. Linda Macklowe is an honorary trustee of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and vice-president of the Guggenheim Foundation.
The two started collecting in the late 1950s and have amassed more than 150 works, 65 of which will be sold at the auction.

The collection is “the highest estimate ever placed on any collection to come to auction,” Sotheby’s says in its announcement. The collection will be sold over the course of two dedicated auctions—the first on Nov 15, 2021, and the second in May 2022.
Before heading to the bidding block, prospective buyers and curious art lovers may view the collection as it tours the world on preview exhibit. The Macklowe Collection will be on display in Taipei from Sept. 17 to 19, Hong Kong from Oct. 7 to 11, London from Oct. 9 to 17, Los Angeles from Oct. 14 to 17, Paris from Oct. 21 to 24, and New York from Nov. 5 to 15, when the first auction is set to begin.

Andy Warhol, "Nine Marilyns," 1962. Estimate: $40-$60 million
Taken from a publicity photograph from the film Niagra, "Nine Marilyns" features a nine-picture succession of Marilyn Monroe’s face. Arranged in a three-by-three format, the nine pictures take a black and white color scheme and depict the same picture of Monroe at different levels of contrast.
Cy Twombly, "Untitled," 2007. Estimate: $40-$60 million.
"Untitled" is one of Twombly’s six paintings in a series entitled A Scattering of Blossoms. The piece features bright red blossoms sporadically painted in a bold manner. Red paint drips from each blossom, creating a blood drip effect.
Pablo Picasso, "Figure (Projet pour in monument à Guillaume Apollinaire)." Estimate: $15-20 million.
"Figure" is a monument in honor of one of France’s greatest poets, Apollinaire. The piece has many cubist forms building upon one another through stick-like materials.
