TO CRAFT THE TASTEFULLY REFINED interiors of Cabin Circle, an 11,853-square-foot modern mountain style manse in Vail, the international design team at Ten Plus Three (tenplusthree.com) used a sophisticated mix of materials and custom furnishings. The owners—entrepreneur, oil tycoon and philanthropist Matt Fleeger and his wife, Candee—looked to the firm to create a design that capitalized on breathtaking views of the Gore Range and the rolling fairways of the Vail Golf Course.

“The goal was to open up the house to the amazing views and create the perfect vacation home for the entire family,” says Ten Plus Three’s co-founder Gonzalo Bueno. “We added new, taller windows in the formal living room and incorporated additional windows throughout the home.” Working alongside Berglund Architects (berglundarchitects.com) and Beck Building Company (beckbuilds.com), the Ten Plus Three team artfully appointed a multitude of spaces, from large common areas to cozy rooms that invite intimate conversation. Bueno employed dark woods, marble, sculptural tables and mixed metals throughout the space, with neutral colors to allow the mountain background to take center stage.

The home’s stone entry gives way to the great room, where floor-to-ceiling zero-threshold glass doors connect the interior to an expansive outdoor terrace with heated and covered spaces. The room is anchored by a dramatic fireplace with book-matched quartzite slabs, a blackened steel mantel and a leathered black granite plinth. Bueno custom-designed the room’s white sofas and the complementary black metal and granite console tables. The living room opens to the dining room with banquettes from Mattaliano and a natural petrified stone tabletop. The nearby bar features a titanium leather granite countertop with a custom brass etagere display behind it. The professional kitchen includes fumed eucalyptus cabinets, a breakfast bar and a discreet butler’s pantry behind the scenes. The three-level, six-bedroom home is filled with gathering spaces, like the lower-level entertainment room, where wine bottles appear suspended in midair within an ultramodern glass wine room. It’s sure to be a conversation starter.
